Music Monday

It’s been too long since my last post! Things have been a little crazy around here lately. Now that the snow has melted and the sun is starting to become a constant presence, it’s also influenced what I have been listening to lately. I figured not only would it be great to share what I have been listening to lately with a Music Monday post, but also get me back into the blogging swing again.

1.New Found Glory- I have spent pretty much the entire weekend listening to them. While I have been listening to all of their catalogue on repeat, Sticks and Stones is probably my favorite album to listen to when the weather is warm and the sun is shining. Catalyst and their Self-titled album follow closely behind.

2.Passion Pit-Manners is an albumthat is great to listen to anytime of the year ,but there is something about being able to listen to this album in the car with the windows done

3.From First To Last- It’s been a while since I’ve listened to them honestly, but their album Heroine is another album that has been playing a lot this weekend. Sorry Garrett.

4.Damone-Their album Out Here All Night has been playing in my car lately whether it’s to take a trip to the grocery store or head to the office. Perfect for pumping you up for even the most mundane tasks or prepare you for the dreaded Monday workday.

5.Lana Del Rey- While I love all of her albums, Born to Die-The Paradise edition is the ultimate warm weather/summer album whether it’s taking a road trip or lounging lazily around the house while trying to appear sullen.

6.Tsunami Bomb-Another band I have not listened to in a while. I have been listening to the album Trust No One a lot this week and honestly I don’t know why I stopped listening to them. One of my favorite bands in highschool and listening to them  takes me down a pathway of nostalgia.

7.Earth Crisis- Aside from knowing they are a local hardcore straight edge band and they have a delicious vegan milkshake named for them at one of my favorite places to eat(Strong Hearts Cafe) , I’m not too familiar with their music. As much as I love indie music , it’s kinda nice taking a break from the norm and listening to something different.

8.Taking Back Sunday- I have been listening to them a lot lately, however their album Tell All Your Friends will always be my favorite album of theirs and is another album that is a bit nostalgic for me. I’m hoping to catch them on tour this summer and drag the bf along. I get to see a band I like and he can enjoy some beers. Its a win-win for both of us.

That concludes the list of what I have been listening to recently. What are some bands/albums you have been listening to lately? Any favorites for when the weather starts to warm up?

Windows down and music turned up

Don’t get my wrong, I love gray skies and cool windy days, but it is nice to see the sun. Warm sunny days means getting to go for a walk at the park after work, lighter weight clothing, and lots of cold brew. Something I have been enjoying immensely is being able to drive with the windows down. The weather has also had an effect of what I have been listening to lately as well. I’ve given Band of Horses and Bon Iver a break the past few weeks (shocking ,I know) in favor of music thats a little more up-beat and energetic.

For some reason, I have been obsessed with throw pillows.I have no idea why since for the most part, the bed is usually unmade and accent pillows usually end up piled up on the floor. While browing around the internet, I stumbed upon the website Society6. I have no idea how I didn’t discover it sooner .Maybe its a good thing since I currently want to buy more things than what I  have room for .

Favorite Finds

4.Bon Iver– Despite my brief hiatus from Bon Iver, they are probably one of my favorite bands, if not my favorite. This pillow not only has some of my favorite lyrics, its also the same color scheme as my bed sheets.

I am hoping to make a large batch of some homemade pasta tomorrow, however coffee, brunch, and a nap sounds pretty .Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend and has a good week.

Lately I’ve felt like I need a creative outlet aside from blogging. For the past week or so,I have been playing guitar again ,albeit not very well(for now anyway). For the past few years playing guitar has been something to do when I had nothing else to keep my occupied or just didn’t have the time for it. Since starting up again, I can’t believe I went so long without playing consistently. Music has always been cathartic for me and playing has been the perfect way for me to clear my head from stress and frustrations of everyday life.

For me, playing music has always been about being able to do something for myself that I love. I suppose its a bit fitting I’ve started to get into playing again as I’m getting read to venture into something new.I am hoping that web design will give me the same feeling of excitement of getting to be expressive and creative through a different medium and am finally doing something for myself because it genuinely makes me happy. DSC_0709
