It’s been a while since I’ve posted one of these. Aside from my Spotify Discover Weekly playlist, I feel like I’ve been stuck on repeat so to speak when it comes to what I have been listening to and recently have been listening to something that’s not Bon Iver, Passion Pit-Manners, or Band of Horses.
Here is what I have been listening to lately
- Lykke Li
- SilverSun Pickups
- Rage Against the Machine
- Tegan and Sara
- Grizzly Bear
- The Sounds
What have you been listening to lately? Hope everyone is having a great start to the week!
Here are the 5 things I currently am obsessed with and can’t get enough of.
1.Band of Horses– Just when I think I can’t possibly love Band of Horses any more than I do. Their new album comes out June 10th and I cannot wait!! I have been playing their newly released songs. A lot.
2.Cathedrals– Their song Harlem was on one of my Discover Weekly playlists on Spotify. After one listen I was hooked and I have been lostening to their Cathedrals EP a lot lately. Perfect for driving around on a sunny day.
3.It’s A 10- Miracle Leave-in Product– Aside side from shampoo, conditioner and a weekly apple cider vinegar rinse, I don’t use hair products. The either make my hair feel stick tacky, greasy, or weigh down my hair. I like that this is weightless and leaves hair feeling soft and smooth and protects against heat.
4.Cocoa + Cardamom Detox Face Mask– Hot weather and taking walks in the park on a bright sunny day mean working up a sweat. Sweat and dirt can mean clogged pores.I have started to use this mask again to help detox my skin and I love the way this smells and leaves my skin feeling soft and refreshed.
5.VSCO– I’ve recently downloaded this app and have been playing around with it and I can see why this is preferred over instagram for filtering photos. There are options to purchase additional filters and there are some free ones available for download as well.
What are some things that you are loving right now?
Don’t get my wrong, I love gray skies and cool windy days, but it is nice to see the sun. Warm sunny days means getting to go for a walk at the park after work, lighter weight clothing, and lots of cold brew. Something I have been enjoying immensely is being able to drive with the windows down. The weather has also had an effect of what I have been listening to lately as well. I’ve given Band of Horses and Bon Iver a break the past few weeks (shocking ,I know) in favor of music thats a little more up-beat and energetic.

For some reason, I have been obsessed with throw pillows.I have no idea why since for the most part, the bed is usually unmade and accent pillows usually end up piled up on the floor. While browing around the internet, I stumbed upon the website Society6. I have no idea how I didn’t discover it sooner .Maybe its a good thing since I currently want to buy more things than what I have room for .
1.Coffee mug-Two of my loves combined. Twin Peaks and coffee. I think Dale Cooper would approve of this .
2.Portland pillow– I’m pretty sure this sums up GMB and I .
3.Adventure awaits– This would be perfect with the pillow above.
4.Bon Iver– Despite my brief hiatus from Bon Iver, they are probably one of my favorite bands, if not my favorite. This pillow not only has some of my favorite lyrics, its also the same color scheme as my bed sheets.
5.Macaroon canvas– What’s better than a perfect macaron? A couple dozen of them.Preferably in fun bright colors.
6.Perfect Sunday– Every Sunday should be like this.
I am hoping to make a large batch of some homemade pasta tomorrow, however coffee, brunch, and a nap sounds pretty .Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend and has a good week.
Lately I’ve felt like I need a creative outlet aside from blogging. For the past week or so,I have been playing guitar again ,albeit not very well(for now anyway). For the past few years playing guitar has been something to do when I had nothing else to keep my occupied or just didn’t have the time for it. Since starting up again, I can’t believe I went so long without playing consistently. Music has always been cathartic for me and playing has been the perfect way for me to clear my head from stress and frustrations of everyday life.
For me, playing music has always been about being able to do something for myself that I love. I suppose its a bit fitting I’ve started to get into playing again as I’m getting read to venture into something new.I am hoping that web design will give me the same feeling of excitement of getting to be expressive and creative through a different medium and am finally doing something for myself because it genuinely makes me happy.
